Reasons for chain wheel wear

The larger the adhesive wear load, the higher the surface temperature, and the more severe the adhesive phenomenon. For metal materials with a certain hardness, a wear rate pressure relationship curve was obtained by conducting wear tests at different pressures. When the pressure reaches more than one-third of the material's hardness, severe wear will occur. According to the stress distribution diagram, it can be seen that the maximum stress contact point is the point of maximum pressure, with a value of 884.4 MPa. Due to the quenching hardness of HRC48~52 at the chain socket, its corresponding hardness value is 4800MPa. Therefore, the pressure is far less than one-third of the material hardness, so adhesive wear is not the main form of sprocket wear.
