The service life of sprockets is relatively short, far from meeting the requirements of production practice. Based on the usage status, processing status, and manufacturing technology of sprockets, some improvement measures have been proposed for sprockets:
(1) The original sprocket design material is 40Cr, with an overall quenched and tempered hardness of HB220~250, and tooth quenching of HRC48~52. This method cannot improve the wear resistance of the sprocket on the basis of limited quenching hardness of the teeth. Suggest changing the material of the sprocket to 20CrMnTi, carburizing and quenching treatment. The hardness of the chain socket can reach HRC60 or above, and its wear resistance is more than 2.5 times that of 40Cr material. This can greatly improve the service life of the sprocket, reduce the frequency of machine repairs, improve productivity, and reduce production costs;
(2) The shape of the original sprocket chain socket is directly formed by forging, which results in large dimensional errors, rough surface, and reduced wear resistance. With the widespread application of CNC machine tools and the reduction of their processing costs, it is recommended to leave a small margin after forging and use numerical milling to complete precision machining, in order to improve dimensional accuracy and surface roughness, and thus achieve the goal of improving wear resistance.
